Subsequently, by letting the blank go, Barry unintentionally gave an outsider a glimpse into the construction process of Szamboti cues by allowing the world to see the magic behind the curtains so to speak. Hindsight is 20/20 because we see tons of completed Szamboti cues all the time. From what I see with the Barry blank, two of the points are slightly lower than the other two and the ring above the wrap area is ever so slightly off center.

In the email he calls the blanks “rejects” which is why he never finished his blank into a full cue. I do have an email from Barry confirming he gave these items to Bob. He says the “natural material” inlays that came from Barry is from Gus’s old stock which he then made into the “display boards” you see below. All given to him from Barry Szamboti as Bob had a great relationship with the Szamboti’s and knew Gus and Barry very well.
